Hi Reader, This year, I feel nobody says "Yay, let's celebrate International Women's Day". We are living through a time of massive transition. The systems many of us grew up trusting, the economic and political structures, even the unspoken agreements about what is fair and what is not, are beginning to crack in very visible ways. You read about it in the headlines, but you also feel it in your nervous system. Dark and dismal news for women is becoming more and more frequent. The gender pay gap that was supposed to be closing is widening again. Rights that once felt secure, like reproductive autonomy, are being questioned or rolled back. Support structures that took decades to build are being dismantled. Research shows that nearly half of women feel more stressed this year than last, because the pressure on them keeps rising. And it shows up in the most ordinary moments. Leading a meeting and then rushing to cook dinner afterwards. The launch you're planning and the sick child you're soothing at night. The spreadsheet deadlines and the emotional labor of being the one who remembers birthdays, holds space for others, anticipates needs. So much of what you do is invisible and expected. It rarely appears in a job description, it never appears in a performance review, but it lives in your body. The exhaustion and burnout so many of us are experiencing is not personal weakness. It is structural pressure made physical. Your fatigue is information, not a judgment of your worthiness. Your nervous system is telling the truth about the world it moves through. And yet, this is not the whole story.Alongside the cracks in the old systems, something else is happening that the headlines rarely capture. Women are finding each other and connecting more. In WhatsApp groups, in mastermind circles, co working sessions and quiet little group chats that become lifelines. Women are building networks, collaborations and friendships that are part strategy room and part soft place to land. This year’s International Women’s Day motto is “Give to Gain”. In many ways, women have always known this before it became a slogan. We give support and we gain strength. What used to be dismissed as being too emotional, too relational, too communal, is revealing itself as one of the most important strengths we can bring to this new era. The future does not belong to rigid hierarchies. It belongs to people who embrace personal responsibility, know how to cooperate, to hold complexity, to build together. In other words, it belongs to people like you. You are not simply a participant in the future that is being shaped. You are one of the people building it, through every boundary you hold, every conversation you have, every moment you choose not to abandon yourself. Today, more than anything, I want you to feel how needed you are.Your voice is needed. Your particular way of seeing the world is needed. Not the polished, perfectly performing version of you, but the real you. The one who is sometimes tired and still cares. The one who is still learning how to let herself be supported, not only be useful. The one who quietly holds so much together. When you think of being part of the change, of building a sustainable future, what is it that you would need? If you could have more support or connection right now, what would it look like for you? If something comes to mind, hit reply and tell me. There is no right answer. I'm just genuinely interested in your view. Your words might even be the seed of something we can build together over the coming months. Thank you for being here, for everything you hold that nobody sees, and for the future you are quietly shaping by being yourself. With so much love, Happy International Women’s Day. |
Hi Reader, There is something I want to share with you that's blown my mind lately. It's about how our understanding of history might be completely off, and why that matters for our freedom today. You know how we've all been taught that human societies developed? From hunter-gatherers to farmers to city-dwellers, into our modern highly specialized society? Well, it turns out that's a load of BS! 😮 I've been reading this mind-bending book called "The Dawn of Everything" by David Graeber and...
