Subconsciously biased science - Rethinking History and Freedom

Hi Reader,

There is something I want to share with you that's blown my mind lately. It's about how our understanding of history might be completely off, and why that matters for our freedom today.

You know how we've all been taught that human societies developed? From hunter-gatherers to farmers to city-dwellers, into our modern highly specialized society? Well, it turns out that's a load of BS! 😮

I've been reading this mind-bending book called "The Dawn of Everything" by David Graeber and David Wengrow. The epic work of these two scientists is challenging everything we thought we knew about human history and social progress. Here are a few jaw-droppers:

😮 Massive urban centers existed in Ukraine thousands of years before Mesopotamia. Mind. Blown. 🤯

😮 Some societies tried agriculture, then were like "Nah, not for us" and went back to hunting and gathering.

😮 There were societies that switched their entire social structure seasonally. Imagine having a king for three months and then everyone just goes their separate ways! Not once, but every year as a societal structure!

But here's the main surprise - the European Enlightenment, you know, the foundation of our modern ideas about liberty and equality? It was heavily influenced by Indigenous American thought leaders, criticizing European society in the 17th century. These Indigenous intellectuals were all about freedom and could not even fathom someone having coercive power over them. Their definition of freedom was threefold:

  1. The ability to move freely
  2. The option to disobey orders that feel wrong
  3. The freedom to create or alternate between different social realities

Sounds familiar? It's basically what we're all striving for today!

Now, why does this matter to us?

Well, if our understanding of the past is this flawed, what other "truths" are we taking for granted? What subconscious beliefs are limiting our freedom without us even realizing it?

It's a reminder that the way things are isn't the way they have to be. We have so much more freedom to create the life and society we want than we might think.

So, I challenge you today: What "truths" about yourself or the world around you might you be ready to question? What new possibilities could open up if you did?

Remember, your subconscious mind is incredibly powerful. By challenging these deep-seated beliefs, you're taking a huge step towards true Soul Freedom and reconnecting with your aliveness.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. What surprised you most? How might this change how you think about your own life and choices?

Much Love,
Gaia
